We are so glad you’ve found the best place on the web to talk about OpenHistoricalMap (OHM)!
We already have some great ways of communicating, like Slack & Discord, but we hope this site provides a richer way to dive deep into focused areas and have richer discussions about how to map the past in better ways.
We’re starting with just a “General” category and hope that needs for other categories will come up as we go along and have more discussions. In the meantime, please tag your discussions liberally with things like region, century, topic – e.g., French, 1800s, roads; or, Hong Kong, 1900s, businesses.
We have also enabled post translations (see the globe icon), so hopefully people don’t feel limited to English for questions and answers.
Here are some things you can do to get started:
Introduce yourself by letting us know what you’re mapping - time, region, topic, etc.
Get to know the community by browsing discussions that are already happening here. When you find a post interesting, informative, or entertaining, use the
