Phantom places on OldInsuranceMaps.net?

I’ve noticed that some places appear on the map- but appear nowhere else.

For example Pueblo does not appear?

If i click on Go to viewer, it tells me that there are “No volumes for this place.”, and if i click on 1930 it says that some urls have moved around and to search it…

yeah, I just can’t find it anywhere, and this goes for Colorado Springs too. I haven’t encountered any more. Hoping someone knows what’s going on, especially because i really want to rectify Puebloan sanborn maps :stuck_out_tongue:

@maplemoths Hi and thanks for posting about this! What’s going on here is that I have a number of maps on the site that are not Sanborn maps and they are hidden from public access–they are part of a different research project whose content has yet to be made public. The screenshot shows one part of the website where those hidden maps are still linked, even though you can’t get to them. Sorry for the confusion here (I’ll actually be pushing a change very soon that at least gives you a “not authorized” response instead of the “not found” response, which is at least more informative).

That said, I’m happy to add Pueblo Sanborn maps to the site for you to work on. Any particular year you are interested in? Here’s what the LOC has: Sanborn Maps | The Library of Congress.

I could start with 1904! Here’s the links for 'ya!

Vol 1. (northside): Sanborn Fire Insurance Map from Pueblo, Pueblo County, Colorado. | Library of Congress
Vol 2. (southside): Sanborn Fire Insurance Map from Pueblo, Pueblo County, Colorado. | Library of Congress

Great, I’ve added those two, you can find them here: Pueblo, Colo., just check the “show all” button (which will also be changing pretty soon, though the URL won’t).

Looks like you’ve already done a bunch of work on the site, but just in case it’s helpful/you haven’t seen it yet, here is the most up-to-date walkthrough: New Iberia, La., 1885 (multi-page Sanborn map) - About OldInsuranceMaps.net.

Enjoy!
