I’m from Ukraine and for some time I was working on a historical map of Kyiv. What I’ve noticed is that the map of Podil, which is the oldest part of the city doesn’t match the real maps I’ve been using as a reference. I was trying to correct them but there is just too much of work, so I decided to post about it here. BTW the older maps I mentioned are from the website of Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, they overlay them on a normal OSM map. Only the oldest maps can currently be viewed of course, because of the war.
Thanks for the heads-up. What kinds of discrepancies are you seeing? Is the data simply outdated, or was it never correct regardless of the time period?
The changesets that introduced the roads and other features in this area cite a map of Podil from before the fire of 1982. Could subsequent reconstruction account for the discrepancies?
