I’ve created a poster to promote OpenHistoricalMap, highlighting its features and inviting people to contribute or explore historical locations. Feel free to use, adapt, or share it as needed to help spread the word!
I’d love to hear your feedback or see how others might use it in their communities.
It’s a good poster, but no bang for the reader. Green looks like “everything is OK”, however the current mapping status is rather deep red.
The first text is a precise four-line decription (AI generated?). Four lines, however, are too long to read. A question would be a good starter: Why does Weinhaus Rheingold not exist on OSM? Because it was …
Three grey maps look boring. I would rather use one historical map on the left, one historical photo in the center and one grey actual OHM map on the right.
The last text is a precise appeal, but … it does not create a desire.
“Find and fill the gaps” would be more appealing, together with a potential reward.
Thanks for sharing this poster. How do you envision it being used – posted around town, sent directly to prospective contributors, submitted to conferences and symposiums? I definitely would encourage OHM contributors to submit posters to conferences. A poster session is a good way to give potential contributors and users a proper introduction to the project, since we aren’t quite as self-explanatory as OSM.
I made the poster to post it in Berlin with the additional vision that others might use my poster as a template and adjust it to their needs. But i am also open for other uses as well, including sharing it with prospective contributors or submitting it for conferences and symposiums if that would be helpful.
